Encounters in Curaçao

Another peaceful week in Curaçao!

My time was spent working and diving. It is easy to work from LionsDive Beach Resort; the rooms are spacious and have some semi-private or private outdoor space.

Conservation diving with Ocean Encounters Curaçao is the best part of the trip and the reason why I return. To date, and via multiple trips, I’ve had great experiences with this dive company. To begin with, they have an amazing coral reef restoration program. The gracious owners, Jerimiah and Pol, are top-notch and always ensure the staff treats all guests with kindness. The dive staff, Remi, Louis, Nas, Vivi, Meagan, and Charlotte, make each dive experience special and provide ease by helping with scuba gear. Over the years that I have been diving with Ocean Encounters, I have always had fun and have been consistently safe.

My two favorite dive locations in Curaçao are Double Reef and Tug Boat. Double Reef is a favorite because it comes with a near-guarantee that divers see multiple turtles. On this trip, I saw seven distinct green and hawksbill turtles on one dive!

Tug Boat is a great dive in the afternoon because of the beams of sunlight shining through the sea waters. Nightime at Tug Boat offers an abundance of marine life and on this recent trip, I was delighted to see an octopus, seahorse, squid, multiple eels, and various fish-- spectacular!

While Curaçao is a special place in itself, the people, especially the dive crew at Ocean Encounters, are why Curaçao remains one of my favorite dive destinations in the world and why I will happily continue to return.
